Edwards Seaweed Fertiliser UK Named Finalist in Rural Awards 2026
Edwards Seaweed Fertiliser UK is delighted to have been named a finalist in the Family Business of the Year category at the Rural Awards 2026, recognising the company's commitment to family values, British agriculture and supporting farmers across the UK.
Organised by The Farmer in partnership with the Shropshire Star, the Rural Awards celebrate the outstanding businesses, individuals and initiatives that contribute to the success of agriculture and rural communities across Shropshire and the surrounding counties.
Following a successful inaugural event last year, which brought together nearly 200 people from the agricultural industry, the awards return on Thursday 22 October 2026, with a black-tie gala dinner and awards ceremony at Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
Edwards Seaweed Fertiliser UK has been shortlisted alongside four other finalists in the Family Business of the Year category, sponsored by Ballards LLP.
A Family Business Rooted in British Agriculture
Founded by Dave Edwards with the support of his wife Rachel, Edwards Seaweed Fertiliser UK has grown into a successful family-run agricultural business, supplying natural, UK-sourced seaweed fertiliser products to farmers, growers and landowners across the country.
Today, the business continues to be very much a family affair, with Dave's son Michael and daughter-in-law Claire actively involved in its day-to-day operations. Even the next generation, Dave and Rachel's grandchildren, regularly enjoy helping their grandad with the seaweed!
At the heart of the business is a shared passion for farming and a commitment to helping British farmers improve soil health, support crop and grass growth, and reduce their reliance on conventional fertilisers.
Through products including Edwards Advanced Seaweed Fertiliser and EASy BioN, the company continues to champion practical, natural approaches to agricultural productivity, drawing on years of experience and close working relationships with farmers.
Being named a finalist is a proud moment for the whole Edwards family and reflects the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm that have helped the business grow.
Celebrating the Best of Rural Britain
The Rural Awards 2026 will recognise achievements across 12 categories, including Agricultural Business of the Year, Farm of the Year, Sustainable Initiative and Young Farmer of the Year.
Edwards Seaweed Fertiliser UK is also pleased to see the Edwards & Farmer Ltd Charity Tractor Run shortlisted in the Rural or Farming Event of the Year category.
With around 40 businesses and individuals shortlisted, the evening promises to be a fantastic celebration of the people and enterprises that make the region's agricultural industry so special.

We are incredibly proud to be recognised alongside so many fantastic rural businesses and wish all the finalists the very best of luck. We look forward to celebrating on 22 October!
